How Much Does Headlight Tint Cost?

Headlight tints are useful and stylish options to add to your vehicle, for those looking to find out more, Car Specialist Customs is here to provide all the answers you need.

In this blog, we will answer the question ‘How much does headlight tint cost?’

This is an important question to explore for those considering this customisation option. Of course, we want to be able to customise our vehicles without presenting a hazard to other road users, and ourselves.

The UK automotive aftermarket industry is thriving, ranking fourth in Europe and ninth in the world in terms of size, and turning over an annual £21.1 billion.

The sector supports 345,600 jobs and contributes £12.2 billion each year to the economy. And it is growing: the sector’s value is set to rise to £28 billion by 2022.

What is headlight tinting?

Headlight tinting is the process of applying a specialised film on the surface of a vehicle’s headlight or rear lights, this process results in a variety of benefits including:

  • Adds a refined aesthetic to your car
  • Can help reduce glare from your headlights
  • In the event of a crash, the adhesive may prevent the glass from shattering everywhere.

You can buy tinting film online or through a service that specialises in car customisation, we recommend the latter as there is less room for mistakes when dealing with experts like us.

Effects of cheap tinting

If you buy a low-quality tint film, then it may be more prone to bubbling, cracking, fading or peeling. Our tints are guaranteed to be top quality, with varying options in strength, with installation directly from us.

For peace of mind, with no reduction in quality and application, we are the superior option for any and all of your tinting needs, whether that is a window or light tinting! Our services are always done to the legal requirement so you dWon’t have to worry.

What makes a headlight tint illegal?

Although headlight tints are generally legal, there are circumstances in which they can be deemed illegal. If your tint is more than 50% tinted, it can be seen as illegal and may result in you being stopped, having the tints removed, and/or face legal consequences.

What makes a headlight tint over 50% illegal?

A headlight tint that is more than 50% is illegal as it begins to affect the output of the headlight itself, meaning it makes it more impractical in low light situations the higher tint that is used.

This of course creates a hazard for the driver, other road users and pedestrians, as light is key in driving at night, regardless if there is streetlights or not.

How much does headlight tint cost?

Our headlight tints cost between £50-90, and our price range covers the high-quality film we use in various styles that are within the legal threshold. This also covers our expert installation, here’s a brief overview of our process.

  1. We review with you the headlight tinting options we offer and decide on the tint you like the most.
  2. We assess your headlights to have an understanding of the most efficient way to install the tint
  3. We clean the headlights properly to ensure the tint will stick properly.
  4. We apply the tint, making the necessary cuts so the tint fits perfectly on your lights.
  5. We then give you guidance on the best way to look after your tinting, and what to avoid.

Are headlight tints the same as window tints?

Not exactly. Headlights and windows are made from different materials, as they have different purposes. Headlights allow the the lights they hold to be projected through its glass, whereas vehicle windows are for drivers to see around them, and manually allow ventilation in their vehicle if they want it.

So when it comes to tints, you need to use the right tint for the right surface, using a window tint on a headlight may affect the effectiveness of your headlights, whilst the same is true for a headlight tint film on windows.

Can I use headlight tints on windows?

You can, but as we highlighted previously, it will alter the effectiveness of your window, the tint itself may react in a way that it wouldn’t on a headlight tint. It is best to avoid trying this experiment altogether. Make sure you use headlight tints for headlights, and window tints for windows.

What makes a good headlight tint?

Sadly, there are instances where a bad headlight tint is made out to be good. So we are here to tell you exactly what makes a good, and bad headlight tint.

A good headlight tint looks like…

  • Fully covered the headlights, without overlapping or underlapping any areas, it is cut clearly.
  • Light can still pass through it.
  • It does not compromise any part of the vehicle that it neighbours.

A bad headlight tint looks like…

  • Overlapping or underlapping the headlight
  • Bubbles are between the light and the tint
  • The tint is peeling
  • The tint isn’t properly stuck on
  • There is a severe lack of light able to pass from your headlights/break lights.

Window tints

Aside from headlight tinting, we also offer a variety of window tints for your selection. Window tints additional protection from UV rays, in addition to any instances of excessively bright headlights.
