Everything You Need to Know About Black Packs

As a colour, black has many connotations, but when it comes to vehicles, it only exudes sophistication, class, subtlety and sleekness. Of course, every vehicle fresh off the showroom is not going to be covered in black all over, it’s usually just the body.

But did you know there is a way to customise your vehicle specially? To exude the coolness and calmness that a black vehicle provides, it can get a Black Pack.

In this blog, we are going to show you everything you need to know about Black Packs.

The UK automotive aftermarket industry is thriving, ranking fourth in Europe and ninth in the world in terms of size, and turning over an annual £21.1 billion.

The sector supports 345,600 jobs and contributes £12.2 billion each year to the economy. And it is growing: the sector’s value is set to rise to £28 billion by 2022.

That’s why we at Car Specialist Customs are here to provide you with all the information you require to get the best car customisation possible, whilst being as informed as possible.

Why would someone want a Black Pack service?

Why would someone want a Black Pack service?

A Black Pack service is a completely optional customisation option. It involves painting or wrapping a vehicle, or certain areas of the vehicle, black. In addition to adding black window tints (That are legally compliant).

However, the unique aspect of a Black Pack service is that the lengths of your customisation are totally optional. One person may only want a glossy black finish on their alloys, whilst someone else may want a full Black Pack service for their vehicle.

Is a Black Pack service legal?

Yes. A Black Pack service is completey legal. As long as the vehicle being serviced has the relevant permissions, it is totally within the laws of car customisation. Of course, because this service changes the look of your vehicle, you may need to inform the relevant parties such as your insurance, if your vehicle has changed from a different colour, to all black.

Furthermore, A Black Pack service is not provided to any leased or rented cars, or any vehicle for that matter that does not have the express permission of its legal owner.

Does customising my car make it a target?

This is an understandable dilemma to consider. Changing your vehicle, especially customising it to make it look more unique, can unfortunately bring it to the attention of thieves.

However, the best way to mitigate this is to consider installing aftermarket security options. Some of which can prevent your vehicle from being stolen altogether! Options such as our Ghost Immobiliser can be fitted to almost any vehicle. Providing first class security to anything from supercars, to hatchbacks, and more.

Everything you need to know about Black Packs

Our Black Pack service is an exclusive and personal service that can be applied to almost any vehicle. In essence, it refers to the process of reinvigorating the colour of your vehicle and its accents into the sleek-stylish colour black.

This process is entierly customisable with Car Specialist Customs. This means that whatever vehicle you have, the results will only be the way that you want them. Whether you want a matted accent, or a glossy one, we can provide it to your specification.

Our years of experience, as well as our use of high quality material, and our skills as elite craftsman enable us to provide professional services like this for competitive prices. But what is the price of a Black Pack service?

How much is a Black Pack service?

A Black Pack service does not have a set price. This is due to the fact that it is entirely customisable. Of course, certain factors such as the size of the vehicle, the materials or style of finish requested will impact pricing considerations. It also goes without saying that the more you get done as a result of the Black Pack Service, the more it will cost.

Can any vehicle get a Black Pack Service?

Yes. Within reason, we can provide a Black Pack service to almost any kind of car, as long as you have the relevant permissions, it can be done. However, if the vehicle is a government vehicle, or if the vehicle is leased or rented, we can not provide this service unless there are specific permissions that you can provide evidence for.

Who do I need to update if I get a Black Pack?

If your vehicle was once a different colour entirely, it is wise to tell your insurer, and any other relevant authority of the colour change of your vehicle. This is because in certain databases, your number plate will not only describe the make and model of your car, but the colour it is too.

Understandably, if the police were to use an ANPR on you, and see a colour other than black on their database, they will be compelled to stop you and ask questions. So it is better to cover all bases before something like this can happen.

Can a Black Pack make me fail my MOT?

Not at all, as long as your Black Pack service is carried out by an expert, you should have nothing to worry about. It is also subject to the areas of your vehicle that receive the Black Pack Service.

For example, if your rims were one of the things you wanted to change, if it needed to be removed in order to paint properly, and was not re-attached correctly, this can present a hazard that can fail your MOT. However, as we mentioned, this is only if you use services that are below the standard that Car Specialist Customs can guarantee with our services.

MOT’s are an assessment of the safety of your vehicle. With every area that is being assessed, they are checked to ensure that it does not compromise the safety of the driver, their passengers, other road users or pedestraians. If there is anything that endangers these people, whether it is inside or outside the vehicle, you will fail your MOT.
